ME402 (Version: 2005 1) COURSE DETAILS (ARCHIVED)

COURSE TITLE EFF YEAR EFF TERM DEPARTMENT CREDIT HOURS
ME402 MECHANICAL DESIGN 2005 1 Civil and Mechanical Engineering 3.0 (BS=0.0, ET=3.0, MA=0.0)
SCOPE
A continuation of ME401 focusing on mechanical system design. Special focus on the application of design methodologies to mechanical elements and assemblies of weapons. Integrates principles of statics, dynamics, thermal sciences, and other disciplines into design efforts involving target effects, projectile flight, gun tubes, mechanisms, optimization, and system reliability. Applies computer simulation and modeling to achieve design. Design projects continue to emphasize optimum use of resources to satisfy specifications typically seen in mechanical elements of weapons. Students will begin capstone design projects during the latter half of the course that will continue into the 2nd term with ME483 and ME496.
LESSONS: 40 @ 55 min (2.500 Att/wk) LABS: 0 @ 0 min
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Three design projects; compensatory time provided.
