SE440 SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE 2026 2 Systems Engineering 3.0 (BS=0.0, ET=3.0, MA=0.0)
SCOPE
SE440 focuses on preparing students to effectively understand, analyze, and model complex systems in an effort to design and implement effective solutions. The course covers principles and methods for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering. The course applies tools and methods for technical system architecting from industry and DoW including the Systems Modeling Language (SysML) modeling and the Department of Defense Architectural Framework (DoDAF). Cadets apply concepts and tools using industry standard advanced modeling software. Ethical responsibilities in describing the results of analyses to decision makers are integrated throughout the course. Cadets develop communication skills through two written reports and make innovative use of modeling packages to develop and analyze systems. A course project challenges cadets to apply their modeling and analysis skills to a real-world complex system. *Pending ABET-PEV review of ET=3.0CR.
