| In this sociology course, cadets will examine the interactive nature of the relationships between social inequality and the social experiences of race, gender, class, and ethnicity. The course focuses on the state of social inequality in the U.S. with respect to the distribution of wealth, power, occupational status, and social opportunity. Cadets will explore both past and present forces which contribute to social inequality and class structure in this country. In addition, cadets will learn concepts, theories, and perspectives which contribute to their ability to evaluate contemporary social issues, policies and programs which affect social inequality. Throughout the course, race, class, gender, and ethnicity will be discussed as critical categories of personal and social experience that affect all Americans. | |||||||||
