SCOPE
This course focuses on fundamental radiation interactions, biological effects of ionizing radiation, radiation dosimetry, elements of shielding, and medical imaging techniques. Specific topics emphasize radiation transformations, kinetics and particle interactions, early and late biological effects of radiation, exposure and dose calculations, radiation safety regulations, x-rays and computed tomography, nuclear imaging, and special topics in medical physics.

This course describes the application of physics to medicine and radiology and to the science and art of protecting human beings from injury by radiation while providing for the beneficial uses of radiation. Topics include elementary radiobiology, biological effects of radiation, production and uses of x rays in medicine, production and uses of radiopharmaceuticals, radiation measurement and dosimetry, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, computerized tomography, health physics and Federal and Army regulations relating to radiation safety.
