SCOPE
This course's objective is to analyze the defense policies of various countries and the outcomes of those defense policies, to include national security objectives, national military objectives, military doctrine, force structure, and military capabilities. Countries studied will include actual and potential coalition partners and potential adversaries. Cadets will examine the political, economic, and social influences on each military establishment. Cultural influences on the development and implementation of the defense policies for countries studied will be examined, including the effects each country's culture has on the missions, structure, roles, and capabilities of the military. Cadets will develop their own framework of analysis to critically analyze the defense polices and cultures of other countries, and will be able to clearly articulate that analysis through written and oral means. Guest speakers include liaison officers and Foreign Area Officers to provide insight into the specific military establishments of those countries studied.

SCOPE
With the changing World Order and the downsizing of the American military, today's officer will be increasingly involved in coalition actions. This course's objective is to analyze the defense policies of various countries and the outcomes of those defense policies, to include national security objectives, national military objectives, military doctrine, force structure, and military capabilities. Countries studied will include actual and potential coalition partners and potential adversaries. Cadets will examine the political, economic, and social influences on each military establishment. Cultural influences on the development and implementation of the defense policies for countries studied will be examined, including the effects each country's culture has on the missions, structure, roles, and capabilities of the military. Cadets will understand the assets and capabilities that the intelligence community uses to develop their military capabilities analysis. Cadets will develop their own framework of analysis to critically analyze the defense polices and cultures of other countries, and will be able to clearly articulate that analysis through written and oral means. Guest speakers include liaison officers and Foreign Area Officers to provide insight into the specific military establishments of those countries studied.

A comparative country study with a minimum 10-page research paper. A trip section to the Defense Intelligence Agency, the primary agency in the DoD responsible for Military Capabilities Analysis. Compensatory time provided.

SCOPE
With the changing World Order and the downsizing of the American military, today?s officer will be increasingly involved in coalition actions. This course?s objective is to analyze the doctrine, force structure, officer development, and wartime practical experience of various countries? military systems around the globe, both potential coalition partners and potential adversaries. Additionally, we will examine the political, economic, and social influences on each military establishment. First we will establish a model for evaluating the various systems to help determine and compare the capabilities and limitations of each system. The course will briefly look at our other sister services because most American responses in the future will be Joint operations. Then our investigation will focus on selected systems in the Americas, Europe (including Russia), the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. The course will make maximum use of subject matter experts during class lectures.
