ME404 | MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DESIGN | 2021 | 1 | Civil and Mechanical Engineering | 3.5 (BS=0.0, ET=3.5, MA=0.0)
SCOPE | |||||||||
This course serves as the first half of the mechanical engineering capstone design experience. Cadets apply the Mechanical Engineering Design Process and their knowledge of math, science, and engineering mechanics to design solutions to real-world engineering problems. They must address public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors. Students begin capstone assignments early in the course and continue their projects with ME496.

ME404 | MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DESIGN | 2020 | 1 | Civil and Mechanical Engineering | 3.5 (BS=0.0, ET=3.5, MA=0.0)
SCOPE | |||||||||
This course introduces mechanical engineering design as an iterative decision making process. It also introduces engineering economics and ethics. One engineering design problem reinforces the design process instruction. Cadets begin an integrative capstone design experience that applies the Mechanical Engineering Design Process to a real-world engineering problem addressing social, political, economic, and technical issues. Students begin capstone assignments early in the course and continue their projects with ME496.
