The new cadet makes the transition into the Corps of Cadets and learns the standards of behavior and values consistent with the goals of the United States Military Academy. Goals of the new cadet in MD100 are: (1) Demonstrate proficiency in the military skills, knowledge, and physical fitness requisite for duty in the Corps of Cadets, (2) Demonstrate an understanding of the concept of duty, (3) Develop confidence, self-discipline, and time-management skills, (4) Demonstrate the ability to function under pressure, individually and as part of a team, and (5) Support and adhere to the prescribed behavioral standards of conduct. New cadets are evaluated by their chain of command during each of two details. Evaluation is based on performance within the framework of the Seven Army Values and 16 Leadership Characteristics, as defined in Chapter 9, Annex D, USCC SOP. Military Development (MD) grades are awarded by the cadet chain of command and the summer Tactical Officer for each detail. The final MD grade is a numerically weighted average of the submitted grades. | |||||||||

The new cadet makes the transition into the corps of cadets, develops as a team member, learns new skills and knowledge, seeks assistance as needed, and learns the standards of behavior and values consistent with the goals of the United States Military Academy. Goals of the new cadet in MD100 are: (1) Learn fundamentals of individual military skill and train and test selected Common Core pre-commissioning tasks. (2) Develop the military skills, knowledge, and physical fitness requisite for duty in the United States Corps of Cadets (USCC). (3) Develop confidence, self-esteem, self-discipline, time-management skills, and pride through completing a demanding military and physical training experience. (4) Learn to function effectively under pressure. New cadets are evaluated by their chain of command during each of two details. Evaluation is based on performance within the framework of the Leader Characteristics. The Leader Characteristics serve as categories that leadership behavior can be grouped under. The strengths and weaknesses of these characteristics form the basis for the evaluation. Chapter 9, Annex D, USCC SOP contains detailed explanations of each characteristic. Military Development (MD) grades are awarded by the cadet chain of command and the summer Tactical Officer for each detail. The final MD grade is a numerically weighted average of the submitted grades. The cadet's CBT 1 and CBT 2 MD grades are equally weighted and combined to yield an overall MD100 grade. | |||||||||
