There they use their knowledge of German, its varieties and connected cultures to accomplish learning tasks, solve problems and live daily routines. A structured program of immersion may include visits to sites of military, political, historical, or social significance; official orientations and lectures; meetings with local or national civilian and military leaders; and directed language learning activities. | Cadets attend a three to four week intensive language program in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, directed by a Department of Foreign Languages instructor, which focuses on the cultural aspects of the German language. Language proficiency is enhanced through a combination of intense classroom study and out-of-classroom cultural activities within the nearby German, Austrian, and Swiss regions. | |||||||||
