| Cadets travel to and reside in a linguistic and cultural community for three weeks. There they use their knowledge of Chinese, its varieties and connected cultures to accomplish learning tasks, solve problems and live daily routines. A structured program of immersion may include visits to sites of military, political, historical, or social significance; official orientations and lectures; meetings with local or national civilian and military leaders; and directed language learning activities. | Cadets participate in a three-week program of events in either the peoples republic of China or Taiwan, as coordinated, respectively, by the Defense Attaché Office, Beijing and the American Institute in Taipei. The program is designed to offer cadets an opportunity to use their language skills and experience Chinese culture. Participants will visit areas of political, cultural, geographical and historical significance, as well as host nation military academies. Cadets will have a chance to meet with civil and military leaders, Chinese and Taiwanese cadets, educators, and members of the United States Foreign Service and Defense Attaché organization serving in country. | |||||||||
