HI108W will focus on trade, technology, politics, society, and the state. These themes will help cadets understand how states and societies innovate, why states go to war, how they marshal the resources to do so, and how these factors have changed over time. In doing so, this course will help cadets know themselves, know others, and begin to develop strategic competence. The course also develops methods of historical research and analysis, critical thinking, lucid writing, and effective participation in classroom discussion.
