SCOPE
This course is designed to develop an understanding of the field of biochemical engineering. The course covers the application of engineering principles to the study of bioprocesses and biochemical reactor design. Topics include enzymes and enzyme kinetics, cell growth and cell growth kinetics, suspension and immobilization of cultures, bioreactor design, scale-up, and control, and recovery and purification technology. Mathematical modeling is an integral part of the course.

SCOPE
This course provides a broad understanding of the field of bioprocess engineering. The course covers applications of engineering principles to the study of bioprocesses and biochemical reactor design. Topics covered include enzymes and enzyme kinetics, cell growth and cell growth kinetics, suspension and immobilization of cultures, bioreactor design, scale-up, control, and recovery and purification technology. Mathematical modeling is an integral part of the course. **This is a pilot course and must be approved by the CC NLT AY23 to continue.**
