This course is designed to develop an understanding of the field of biochemical engineering. The course covers the application of engineering principles to the study of bioprocesses and biochemical reactor design. Topics include enzymes and enzyme kinetics, cell growth and cell growth kinetics, suspension and immobilization of cultures, bioreactor design, scale-up, and control, and recovery and purification technology.
